In a major immigration raid conducted by Malaysia’s Immigration Department (JIM), a total of 506 undocumented immigrants were detained, including 165 Bangladeshis. The operation took place in a business district in Medan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur, with 185 immigration officers participating, supported by the National Registration Department and other agencies.
During the raid, 895 individuals’ documents were inspected, including 749 immigrants and 146 local citizens. After verification, 506 immigrants were detained for violating immigration laws. The detainees are aged between 25 and 65 years.
Immigration Director-General Dato Zakaria bin Shaban stated that some foreign nationals attempted to hide in rooms, toilets, and storage areas to evade capture. They were detained for lack of identification documents, overstaying, violating visa conditions, and possessing unauthorized cards.
