Yupia, May 16, 2025: Hosts India and Bangladesh will clash for the SAFF U-19 Championship title on May 18. On Friday, both teams secured their spots in the final with victories in the semi-finals held at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh.
In the first semi-final, Bangladesh defeated Nepal 2-1 in a fiercely competitive match. Bangladesh head coach Golam Rabbani Choton revealed that the team had meticulously planned their strategy by analyzing Nepal’s previous match against India, which was effectively executed on the field. “The four-day break before the semi-final, after playing consecutive group-stage matches, worked in our favor,” Choton noted.
In the second semi-final, India dominated Maldives with a comfortable 3-0 win. The hosts controlled the game from the outset, scoring twice in the first half and adding another goal in the second. Despite a brief period of rain in the second half, India’s performance remained unhindered as Maldives struggled to mount a comeback.
Expressing confidence ahead of the final, Choton acknowledged India’s strength, stating, “India is undoubtedly a formidable opponent in SAFF football. We are ready to take them on. I believe the football fans in Arunachal will enjoy a thrilling and competitive final.”
The final is set to take place on May 18 at the Golden Jubilee Stadium, where both teams will vie for the coveted title.
