Robbery Targets Ambulance in Brahmanbaria, Even Deceased Victim Stabbed

Brahmanbaria, May 23, 2025 : In a shocking incident in Brahmanbaria’s Nasirnagar, a group of armed robbers ambushed an ambulance carrying a deceased person’s body. Not only did they rob the vehicle, but they also stabbed the corpse, adding to the distress of the grieving family.

The incident occurred around 1 AM on Thursday (May 22) in the Tilpara area of Burishwar Union. According to police and victims, 70-year-old cancer patient Chabadar Ali from Mukbulpur village in Purbabhag Union passed away at Mirpur Ahsania Cancer Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday night. His family was transporting his body back to their village in an ambulance when a gang of 10–12 robbers blocked the road with a fallen tree in Tilpara.
The robbers vandalized the ambulance, assaulted nine people, including women accompanying the body, and looted approximately 50,000 taka and 10 mobile phones. In an act of extreme cruelty, they also attacked the deceased’s body with sharp weapons, leaving the family in profound grief.
Alamgir Miah, the son of the deceased and president of Ward No. 3 of Purbabhag BNP, expressed his anguish: “I could have tolerated the loss of money, but I cannot accept that they attacked my father’s dead body.”
Victim Azharul Islam Durjoy highlighted the growing insecurity on the route, stating, “This road is extremely unsafe now. Traveling to Dhaka is safe, but returning to our villages from Nasirnagar is highly risky. When will the people of this region be free from this?”
Local resident and lawyer Rezaul Haque Amjad condemned the brutality, saying, “This is not just robbery—it’s sheer inhumanity. Attacking a corpse! And this happened just one kilometer from the police station. Where was the patrol team?”
Nasirnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Khairul Alam confirmed the incident, noting that the area is known for criminal activities. “We have received reports of the robbery. The location is a crime-prone area with similar incidents in the past. We are investigating and working to bring the culprits to justice swiftly,” he said.
