Following Iran’s launch of six missile attacks on the key U.S. military base Al Udeid in Qatar, significant disruptions have emerged in Middle Eastern airspace, impacting civilian air traffic. As a result, a Doha-bound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines was forced to divert mid-journey after learning that Qatar’s airspace was closed, landing in Muscat, Oman. The airline authorities confirmed that the flight will refuel in Muscat before returning to Dhaka.
ABM Raushan Kabir, General Manager of Biman’s Public Relations Department, informed the media on Monday that the flight had already departed for Doha when it received news of Qatar’s airspace closure. Consequently, the flight rerouted to Muscat for refueling before heading back to Dhaka.
In a press release issued Monday night, the authorities of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka stated that, due to the ongoing global situation, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain have temporarily closed their airspace. The respective civil aviation authorities and foreign ministries have announced that all commercial flights to and from Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Bahrain will remain canceled until further notice.
Passengers planning to travel on these routes are urgently requested to contact their respective airline offices to reschedule their travel plans and take necessary measures in accordance with the latest directives.
