Public Gatherings Banned in Secretariat, Yamuna, and Surrounding Areas from Monday

 

Dhaka, June 8, 2025: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all forms of public gatherings, assemblies, processions, and rallies in and around the Bangladesh Secretariat, the Chief Adviser's official residence Yamuna, and adjacent areas, effective from Monday, June 9, 2025, until further notice.  

In a public notification signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on June 4, it was stated that the measure has been taken to maintain public order and ensure the security of the Chief Adviser. The ban is enforced under the authority of Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76).

The restricted areas include Hotel Intercontinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Officers’ Club Crossing, and Mintu Road. Authorities have warned that legal action will be taken against any violation of this order.
