With the Asia Cup just days away, Indian cricket fans have received great news. They can now purchase Indian cricket team jerseys at significantly reduced prices. Due to a special government regulation, Dream11 is no longer a sponsor of the Indian cricket team, leading to a sharp drop in jersey prices.
Adidas, the manufacturer of the Indian cricket team’s jerseys, announced that the price of jerseys bearing the Dream11 logo has been reduced by 80%. Previously sold for ₹5,999, these jerseys are now available for ₹1,199, a reduction of ₹4,800. Fans can purchase them at this discounted rate from Adidas stores and online platforms.
The Indian government recently banned apps that facilitate online betting for money, prompting Dream11 to terminate its sponsorship agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in August this year. This decision has led to a price drop for both men’s and women’s team jerseys, making jerseys of players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Smriti Mandhana available for ₹1,199.
In 2023, Dream11 signed a ₹358 crore sponsorship deal with the BCCI, valid until 2026. However, following the government’s decision, Dream11 withdrew from the agreement. Neither the BCCI nor Dream11 has issued an official statement, but the BCCI has already invited bids for a new sponsor, indicating their search for a replacement.
Adidas had already manufactured jerseys for the Asia Cup featuring the Dream11 logo. With the sponsorship change, the Indian team will play the tournament without a sponsor’s logo. To clear existing stock before a new sponsor is finalized, Adidas has drastically reduced jersey prices.
