More than 130 students have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in the United States, alleging illegal cancellation of their student visas. The students claim their status in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) was abruptly revoked, putting them at risk of arrest, detention, and deportation.
Initially, 11 students filed the lawsuit in Georgia, which later expanded to include 116 more students. The affected students reported that their visas were canceled without any valid explanation. A Chinese student and an Indian student shared that their visas were revoked despite resolving minor legal issues like traffic violations and theft allegations.
The students accused the Trump administration of intimidating institutions by threatening to cut funding, leading to the cancellation of their visas.
