The hearing, which took place around 11:15 AM, saw arguments from both sides before the court issued the order denying bail. Assistant Public Prosecutor Md. Raihanul Wajed Chowdhury confirmed the development. Extensive security measures were implemented around the court premises due to the sensitivity of the case, with law enforcement personnel conducting searches and interrogations of individuals entering the court.
A legal team led by Advocate Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya, who traveled from Dhaka, represented Chinmoy Krishna Das during the hearing. The team was escorted by police for security reasons while entering and leaving the court premises.
On November 26, following Chinmoy Krishna Das’s arrest, a previous bail hearing had turned the Chittagong court premises into a conflict zone. Clashes on that day resulted in the death of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif and injuries to at least 20 others.
Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in connection with a sedition case filed at Chittagong’s Kotwali Police Station.
