Rain Expected to Continue for Two to Three More Days

The wait for Shravana’s rain was a bit longer this time. After several days without rain, the sweltering heat had left Dhaka residents restless. However, relief came early Thursday morning with cool breezes and lightning, followed by rainfall.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department reports that heavy rain is likely in four divisions of the country for at least the next two days. A low-pressure system has formed over the northern Bay of Bengal, accompanied by dense cloud cover across vast areas of the country, causing rain in Dhaka and other regions.

For nearly four days, rainfall had significantly decreased across the country, coupled with intense heat. The lack of rain, combined with high humidity, made life uncomfortable for many. Amid this, a low-pressure system developed in the Bay of Bengal. Meteorologist Tarikul Newaz Kabir told *Prothom Alo* this morning that the current rainfall across Dhaka and other areas is due to the formation of dense clouds. The low-pressure system may lead to increased rainfall starting tomorrow. For at least the next two days, heavy rain is expected in various parts of Khulna, Chattogram, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions. Rainfall is classified as heavy when it measures between 44 and 88 millimeters. If it exceeds 88 millimeters, it is considered very heavy rainfall.
