A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed near the primary section of Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, on Monday (July 21) around noon. The incident occurred while classes were ongoing, with young children inside the school. A loud explosion shook the school building, followed by plumes of smoke, sparking panic among the students. Frightened children began screaming and crying, with many rushing out of classrooms to the school fieldOn-site observations revealed that the aircraft crashed in an area adjacent to the school’s playground, close to the primary section building. Following the crash, parents rushed to the school, with many seen crying and calling out their children’s names outside the school gate.
**100 to 150 Students Were in the Affected Building**
Nabila, a student from the college section, recounted, “There was a deafening sound, and the children in the class started screaming in fear. We couldn’t understand what was happening. Smoke was visible from the windows. Some students ran downstairs, but the younger children were still inside and couldn’t get out.”
Farzana Haque, a parent, said, “Suddenly, there was a loud noise. I looked and saw smoke rising. There was fire and smoke right next to the school. I saw the children crying.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Uttara Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police) Mahidul Islam stated that security was immediately heightened in the area. Law enforcement and school authorities worked together to safely evacuate the young children.
**Dhaka Plane Crash: Fears of Rising Casualties**
Dr. Amal Kanti Nath from Uttara Modern Medical College Hospital reported that at least 35 people injured in the crash were sent to the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He added, “Those with less severe injuries are being treated here, but all the patients have burn marks on their bodies.”
As of this report, rescue operations are ongoing, with coordinated efforts by the Fire Service, law enforcement, and the Air Force at the crash site.
