The US Embassy in Dhaka has warned visa applicants that submitting fraudulent documents or concealing information could result in a permanent ban on entering the United States and potential criminal charges. The advisory was posted on the embassy’s official Facebook page on Friday, July 18, 2025.
In the post, the embassy stated, “We’ve heard this story before. Consular officers are always aware of new techniques for visa fraud and technologies used to create fake documents.”
The advisory emphasized that it is the applicant’s responsibility to provide accurate information and maintain transparency during the visa process. “Concealing information or submitting fake documents is a serious offense. This could lead to a permanent ban on entering the United States, which may ruin an applicant’s future travel and immigration prospects. Criminal charges may also be filed,” the post warned.
The embassy further advised applicants to avoid relying on fraudsters or agents and to submit accurate information themselves to stay safe during the visa application process.
**Social Media Information Disclosure Mandatory**
In a previous post on July 10, the embassy clarified that visa applicants must include details of all social media accounts used in the past five years in the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants certify the accuracy and truthfulness of all provided information before signing and submitting the form. Concealing social media information could lead to visa rejection and ineligibility for future visa applications.
