Shakib’s Explosive Fifty in 20 Balls Lights Up CPL

Antigua, September 1, 2025: Shakib Al Hasan, known for his bowling prowess, finally broke his batting slump in spectacular fashion, smashing a 20-ball fifty for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons against St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). His fiery knock propelled the Falcons to a formidable 204 runs in their 20 overs.

From the start of the CPL season, the Falcons’ management placed their trust in Shakib as a batter, consistently sending him in at number 4 or 5. Today was no different. Entering the crease in the seventh over with the score at 51 for 2, Shakib unleashed a batting blitz, instantly shifting the momentum in his team’s favor.

Before the strategic timeout, Shakib smashed two sixes. He then took on David Wiese, plundering 24 runs in a single over with three fours and two sixes, dismantling the Kings’ bowling plans. Shakib reached his third CPL fifty, and his first of the current season, in just 20 balls. He continued his onslaught, hammering a six off Alzarri Joseph over long-off and adding 11 more runs in the next six balls, finishing with 61 runs off 26 balls. Shakib found support from Amir Jangoo, who scored 56 off 43 balls, while Fabian Allen’s explosive 38 off 17 balls late in the innings pushed the Falcons past the 200-run mark.

For St Lucia Kings, Tabraiz Shamsi was the standout bowler, claiming 3 of the Falcons’ 4 wickets while conceding just 30 runs in his 4 overs. However, the rest of the Kings’ bowlers struggled, leaking runs at over 10 per over.
