June 5, 2025 : The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning for storms with wind speeds of up to 60 km/h in 10 districts of the country, expected to occur by 1:00 PM today. The forecast also indicates the possibility of thunderstorms and rain in these areas.
According to a weather bulletin issued on Thursday (June 5) at 9:30 AM, signed by meteorologist Kazi Jebunnessa, the districts likely to be affected include Mymensingh, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet. These regions may experience gusty winds blowing from the south/southeast at speeds of 45–60 km/h, accompanied by temporary rain or thunderstorms.
Inland river ports in these areas have been instructed to display cautionary signal number 1.
Additionally, a 120-hour weather forecast for the entire country states that some areas in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, along with a few places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, and Khulna divisions, may experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also possible in some parts of the country. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise slightly, while nighttime temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged.
