Dhaka, May 14, 2025: Information and Broadcasting Advisor Mahfuz Alam has assured swift discussions with the Jagannath University (JnU) administration to address the demands of protesting students. He warned that the tendency to rush to the Yamuna state guesthouse for every issue will not be tolerated, and the government will adopt a strict stance in such cases.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with the JnU administration at the Yamuna state guesthouse on Wednesday (May 14), Mahfuz elaborated on the government’s position. He stated that the Chief Advisor would soon hold a meeting with the university administration to resolve the students’ three-point demands. “The government is open to listening to any logical movement, but the practice of heading to Yamuna for every issue will no longer be acceptable. The government will take a firm stand,” he said.
Mahfuz also alleged that a specific group had orchestrated an attack on him with ulterior motives. He claimed that a faction had infiltrated the students’ movement to sabotage it, though he refrained from naming them. “I believe those who attacked me are not part of the July warriors. The political affiliations of those who carried out the attack from within the movement should be investigated,” he added.
